www.photoedge.co.uk - My work tends to revolve around designing and building the instrument of photography, the camera. My approach to the science of the camera and my intrigue in the ever larger format has sometimes over whelmed myself, the things that arise from my some what increasing intrigue in the camera, its roll as the tool of the image has always been my fascination.
My first attempt at building a camera begins at the basic end of pinhole photography, the shoe box. Before long I had constructed one of my favourite pinhole cameras. A 12“x16“ multiple back pinhole which allows for six separate exposures. Which was used for my alternate prints.
By the time I had started my degree at maidstone University College for the Creative Arts I was building pinhole cameras with leaf shutters, allowing for more accurate and shorter exposures. By my second year at university I was beginning to understand the science of optics, and began constructing my first 10“x8“, it is a simple and crude device but the images were beautiful. I began to investigate the further possibilities of the lens, and began researching and designing the camera which is my largest to date the 20“x24“
My work will continue to investigate the roll of the maker, through the construction of ever increasingly complicated and more intricate designs, but still with the simple and romantic ideal of the knowing and making of the tool of one’s profession. |

www.lndividual.de - This site in minimal design is the photographic portfolio of Tom Abraham in Berlin / Germany. It combines the range of human behaving and feelings reflected on things without soul. These things are structured like emotions. Hard lines, smooth waves, everything is focused on the viewer. See more with less...
the credits for the technical conversion go to Ingmar Standke (Agency Superreal - Hamburg / Germany) |
