Squeaky launched the new Lexus ES350 website which targets young and affluent African –American women. In a partnership with Alicia Keys, this time, the car itself took a backseat. The website’s fluid interface showcases editorial tips on music, beauty, fashion, art, wellness, travel, etc.—that work to position the site as a resource that enlightens users on the world of luxury. Interactivity and participation were enhanced through features such as My Book, which allows users to save selected articles for future reference and to share them with friends.

nice looking but it just doesn't work as it should even in a large browser (resize is awful) - and the music is possibly the most irritating music I've ever heard |

Alicia Keys is hot! and I don't know if the reviewer before me knows but she's won so many Grammys! Maybe it's not your kind of music... I don't know about the window resize - it works fine on my gigantic 32-inch monitor perfectly. I think it's a nice site.. a little thin on the content articles. There should be a city guide or something b/c there are articles that's travel related. The city guide can also tie in with Alicia's concert cities + events/happenings in those cities. That will be hot!! |

Wow you really don't know the first thing about web design do you. Plagro may have been wrong about the music, but he's right that you shouldn't force it down someone's neck. Its the number one turn off for any website.
Also he's right about the resize, why is the loading circle thing up in the top left hand corner and why are there two scroll bars.
Accessibility is the name of the game and if you have to have a "gigantic 32 inch monitor" to view a website properly then you're pretty much admitting that you're a terrible designer.
nice looking site man, but useability sucks and your attitude stinks. |

Lets be grown-ups. We're talking about a website here and "your attitude stinks" has nothing to do with it. If the reviewer loves the site because of Alicia Keys and thinks it's a nice site, let him be. I think it's a nice looking site as well. Not sure who its target audience is. I guess it's for her fans?
Talking about usability, I agree that music auto-play is not appropriate for all website. But "number one turnoff for any website" isn't a correct statement. If the website is about music, an artist/band or a movie, it is quite appropriate. If you don't like the music, there is a sound on/off on the music player, which thankfully this site employs.
I'm also not aware of monitor size having anything to do with being a good or bad designer. I have a 30-inch Apple monitor and I can multi-task much better by allocating different parts of the monitor to different programs. It's called productivity. I don't open my browser window to max size just to view websites that are made for 1024x768 res. That would be retarded. |
